LakePoint, Ga. - The ASUN Conference and ESPN announced 55 events to be streamed via the Worldwide Leader in Sports new platform, ESPN+. Six ASUN Championship will be showcased on ESPN+ including the entirety of the Beach Volleyball, Lacrosse, Softball and Baseball Championships to go along with the Championship Finals for Men's & Women's Tennis.
Beginning April 12th, fans will access ESPN+ as an integrated part of a completely redesigned ESPN App (and also via ESPN.com). For just $4.99 a month, subscribers will receive thousands of additional live events, and original shows and films, and an on-demand library, which is not available on ESPN's linear TV or digital networks. ESPN+ will not include access to stream ESPN's existing, linear networks (which will continue to be available via "TV Everywhere" authenticated streaming).
The first ASUN produced event on ESPN+ will take place on Apr. 12th as North Florida hosts FGCU in a rematch of the 2017 ASUN Women's Tennis Championship Final. The following week, Jacksonville hosts Mercer in Women's Lacrosse with a 4 PM start.
"Our growing and evolving partnership with ESPN as leaders in digital content production and delivery continues to deliver positive benefits to all - ESPN, ASUN and, especially, our student-athletes through the promotion of their outstanding achievements," said ASUN Commissioner Ted Gumbart. "As ESPN's first full conference partner in campus-produced content, launched in 2013, the ASUN has produced the highest number of events for ESPN3. We are extremely proud to continue that leadership with the debut of ESPN Plus, as we live out our promise in the ASUN Beams - Students First, Rise, Connect and Impact."
The ASUN's partnership with ESPN first began in 1989 with the airing of the league's Men's Basketball Final and has grown exponentially through the conference's ESPN3 On-Campus Initiative, which began in the fall of 2012. Since its inception, ESPN has collaborated with the ASUN to adopt the conference-wide on-campus production model.
