JACKSONVILLEÂ - North Florida women's tennis took down visiting Iowa State, 5-1, on Friday afternoon at the UNF Tennis Complex.
QUICK HITS
- UNF made quick work in the No. 2 doubles position as Lucia Montano and Eva Nyikos grabbed the 6-1 win. The pair of Luise Intert and Rafaela Gomez followed suit, but it was a tight 7-6 (3) match win for the 1-0 lead.
- In singles, Montano made quick work in the No. 3 spot as she gave up just two games for the match to give UNF the 2-0 edge.
- Intert then took her match 6-4, 6-1 in the No. 4 position to put the Ospreys out in front 3-0 and needing one match to clinch.
- The Cyclones grabbed a win in the No. 6 position just as Gomez finished her three-set win at the top spot to lead the Ospreys to the win.
- Intert is now on a three-match win streak in singles play.
COBRA'S CORNER
"We made it a little bit harder on ourselves than what it should have been and that's simply because only a few of us decided to compete from the start of the match. This is definitely the only thing we are missing as a team; once that comes, everything else will click. Great job to those who stepped up from the start and were able to help us by getting quick points. We look forward to battling on Sunday." - Head Coach Mariana Cobra
