JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - North Florida softball closes out its nine-game home stretch with a pair of games against Notre Dame on Tuesday beginning at 4 p.m. at the UNF Softball Complex.

  • Junior Navia Penrod comes into play with a team-best .494 average as she leads the league with 39 hits.
  • Junior Sydney Matzko picked up her 11th complete game on Saturday against No. 15 Florida State. Matzko sits with a 1.59 ERA and leads the Ospreys with a 7-7 record. She ranks third in the conference with 69 strikeouts. 
  • Leading the ASUN with nine doubles, junior Dominica Cocuzza owns a .317 average. Cocuzza also paces the Ospreys with 13 RBI. 
  • Tuesday's doubleheader marks the first time that the Ospreys face Notre Dame on their home field. Each of the prior three meetings have been on neutral sites.

Notre Dame
  • Batting an impressive .422, Ali Wester tops six players hitting above .300 in the Irish's lineup. She owns 19 hits and 13 runs.
  • Abby Sweet sits just behind her with a .391 average with a team-best 25 hits off of six extra-base hits, while scoring 13 runs. She also has a team-leading seven stolen bases.
  • Morgan Reed and Katie Marino both have a big swing as they have four and five home runs, respectively, to pace Notre Dame.
  • In the circle, freshman Alexis Holloway is the main pitcher with a 2.38 ERA, a 10-4 record and 80 strikeouts. Holloway notched the 44th overall no-hitter, and the 37th solo outing, in program history by shutting out NC State in game one. She allowed five walks, while fanning five in the shutout.
  • Her counter part, Katie Beriont, is second in appearances with a 3.47 ERA and 36 Ks. 
  • The Fighting Irish are coming off a split against NC State before the deciding game was canceled due to weather. The team owns four run-rule games including a 15-0 win against the Wolfpack on Saturday.
  • Notre Dame has won 31 straight nonconference, non-tournament games in the regular season since April 4, 2014.
     

LOOKING AHEAD
The Ospreys head down to the Clearwater Spring Break Classic where it faces off with six teams across three days. First game is set for Friday, March 16 at 4:15 p.m. against LIU Brooklyn.
