JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - North Florida softball continues its 2018 campaign with the Osprey Classic Presented by Courtyard Marriott beginning on Friday.

QUICK HITS
  • Reigning ASUN Pitcher of the Week, Sydney Matzko, leads the conference with four shutouts and also ranks fourth in the NCAA.
  • Junior Navia Penrod comes into play after a team-best .458 average with 11 hits and four stolen bases last weekend in Lafayette. Penrod sits eighth in the nation with 26 hits on the season.
  • Leading the team with seven doubles, junior Dominica Cocuzza sits with a .311 average entering play on Friday. Her doubles put her at six in the nation.
  • North Florida is leading the league with 28 sacrifices and the Ospreys place second in the ASUN with 106 hits.
     
OPPONENT NOTES
Presbyterian
  • The Blue Hose enter the weekend with a 1-11 record after falling 9-0 to USC Upstate on Tuesday night.
  • Jonnie Petree tops Presbyterian with a .324 average with team-high eight stolen bases.
  • On the rubber, Camryn Alverson leads the Blue Hose with a 1-0 record in six relief appearances on the year.
  • UNF won 7-0 last time out against Presbyterian in March of 2005 and have taken all six meetings from the Blue Hose.

Middle Tennessee
  • The Blue Raiders come in with an 11-5 mark after winning four straight last weekend at Eastern Michigan's tournament.
  • Sophomore Summer Burgess leads the way hitting at a .491 clip with 26 hits and three doubles on the year. Burgess is tied with Penrod for eighth in the NCAA in hits.
  • In the circle, Amber Baldwin paces the Blue Raiders at 4-1 with a 1.71 ERA and a pair of complete games.
  • North Florida picked up a 7-6 win in March of 2016 against Middle Tennessee at UCF as the Ospreys have won each of the prior three meetings.

Campbell
  • Campbell owns an 8-8 mark after it picked up a 16-2 victory over Virginia on Wednesday night.  
  • Rachel McCollum is hitting a team-best .412 on the year with a team-high five home runs and 24 RBI to rank in the top 10 nationally.
  • Megan Richards leads the way with a 4-3 record and a 2.83 ERA. Richards has 33 strikeouts and has picked up four complete games and a save this season.
  • The two teams met for the last time during Campbell's final year in the ASUN with UNF grabbing the 7-6 win in April of 2011.

Iowa State
  • The Cyclones own an 8-7 mark after falling 3-0 on Sunday to No. 2 Florida.
  • Iowa State is led at the dish by Sally Woolpert with a .355 average, while Sami Williams is hitting at a .347 clip with a pair of long balls.
  • Briana Weilbacher leads the Cyclones in the circle with a 4-2 record and a 2.62 ERA.
