JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - North Florida softball opens its 2018 home slate in the Courtyard Marriott UNF Invite beginning on Friday, Feb. 16. The games will be played at Atlantic Coast High School.

Providence

  • In the circle, Miranda Trinidad is 1-1 with a  2.69 ERA and two complete games.
  • UNF and Providence met last weekend with the Ospreys picking up the 9-0 win in the Friends of Jaclyn Invitational.

South Dakota State
  • South Dakota State enters the weekend with a 2-3 record after they won a 19-12 battle with Green Bay the last time out.
  • Abbey Murphy led the Jackrabbits last weekend hitting at a .529 clip with two doubles and a triple.
  • Mallory McQuistan paced South Dakota State with two long balls in the UNI tournament.
  • The Ospreys picked up a 7-5 victory over the Jackrabbits in last year's Osprey Invititational.

UT Arlington
  • UTA comes into play with a 3-2 mark after picking up wins last weekend against Syracuse, UMass and Southern Miss.
  • Whitney Walton paces the Mavericks with a .353 average, while Sandra Mendoza is hitting at a .333 clip with four RBI.
  • On the rubber, Jojo Valencia sits at 2-1 with a 2.14 ERA along with at team-high nine punch outs.
  • The Ospreys and Mavericks meet this weekend for the first time in program history.

Canisius
  • The Golden Griffins come into play with a 1-3 record as they got a 4-3 win over Robert Morris last weekend.
  • Morgan Altman leads the way for the Griffins after batting .444 on the weekend with a double and a triple. Altman was named MAAC player of the week for her performance.
  • UNF and Canisius meet this weekend for the first time in program history.
 
LOOKING AHEAD
North Florida welcomes in Hofstra and McNeese State for a pair of midweek contests. The Ospreys face Hofstra Tuesday at 12 p.m. before hosting McNeese at 5 p.m. on Wednesday.
