Findel-Hawkins Upsets Baylor's No. 15 Benitez in NCAA Singles

ATHENS, Ga. - North Florida senior Jack Findel-Hawkins took down 15th-ranked Juan Benitez from Baylor in the opening round of the NCAA Men's Tennis Singles Championship on Wednesday afternoon.
No. 69 Findel-Hawkins fell behind early in his match, but battled back and eventually tied the match at 6-all before taking the tiebreaker, 6-4. In the second set, Findel-Hawkins grabbed the opening game and it set the tone for the rest of the match as he took down Benitez, 7-6(4), 6-4 for his first-ever NCAA victory.
The Exmouth, Great Britain, native is the first ASUN player in three years to pick up a victory in the NCAA Singles bracket.Â
Findel-Hawkins now faces off with Sasha Gozun from USF on Thursday after his doubles match.
