UNF Continues ASUN Play Against Lipscomb

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - North Florida softball heads to Nashville to continue conference play against Lipscomb in a three-game series starting Friday, April 14.

SWOOP FACTS
  • North Florida currently sits atop the standings with USC Upstate. Both are in first based on winning percentage. The Ospreys have already had their bye week in ASUN action and the Spartans have theirs coming up in two weekends.
  • Continuing to lead the league in batting, sophomore Navia Penrod owns a .463 average to rank in the top 10 in the nation and now also owns the UNF single-season program record.
  • Penrod also leads the ASUN in on-base percentage, hits and runs scored and is seventh in stolen bases.
  • In total, four players are batting above .300 and seven total are above .250. 
  • Despite Jenna Brownell snapping her six-game hit streak in game one against Bethune, she earned a walk and then came back and smacked her first home run of the season to extend her reach base streak to 17 games.
  • The Ospreys leads the league with 23 double plays and now owns the program record. The team ranks 13th in the nation with double plays per game with 0.55.
  • Senior pitcher Logan Green owns a 2.24 ERA with a 10-12 record with 86 strikeouts. Her ERA ranks sixth in the ASUN, while placing seventh in strikeouts.
  • This is one of the lone series played on a Friday and Saturday.

SERIES HISTORY: Lipscomb Leads 16-11 and won three years in a row before losing to the Bison last year.
LAST MEETING: North Florida won the overall series in ASUN play against the Bison, but dropped a 16-0 decision to close out the weekend. UNF grabbed 4-1 and 6-5 victory on day one in Jacksonville.

  • Caitlin Plocheck tops the team with a .345 average with a team-best 24 RBI, 8 home runs, and 24 RBI. She is also team leader with 12 doubles in her 49 hits with 22 runs scored.
  • In the circle, Lipscomb sticks with a two-player staff 1.98 ERA anchored by Mandy Jordan.
  • Jordan is seventh in the NCAA in strikeouts with 200, 30th in earned run average at 1.27 and 37th in strikeouts per seven innings with 8.4.
  • McCarley Thomas posts a 2.68 ERA and a 10-5 record with 98 strikeouts on the year.
  • As a team the Lady Bisons are 33rd with a 2.13 ERA, 35th with a .972 fielding percentage and 38th in won-loss percentage at .707 in the latest NCAA rankings.
