HOW IT HAPPENED
- In the opening set, the two teams traded points with eight ties and eventually knotted the score at 13-all before the host created some separation.
- The Owls went on a 9-3 run and were able to withstand a late 4-0 burst from the Ospreys to take set one, 25-22.
- After trading the first four points, Kennesaw went on the attack in the second set with a 12-5 run and never looked back.
- North Florida got it to within five at 15-10, but that's as close as they would get with Kennesaw responding behind a 10-4 run that propelled them to the second set victory, 25-14.
- In the third stanza, the Owls and Ospreys traded point with 10 ties. KSU used an 8-3 surge to build a 21-16 advantage late in the set.
- UNF wouldn't go quietly mounting an 8-3 run of their own to tie the score at 24 before the Owls finished off the sweep scoring the final two points for the 26-24 decision.
QUICK HITS
- Ashley LaBorde had 21 digs in the contest, surpassing 1,000 digs for her career at North Florida. LaBorde became the 13th Osprey to reach this milestone, and first since Kimberly Ferguson accomplished the feat last year.
- It marks the eighth time this season that LaBorde has had 20+ digs in a match.
- Junior Asante Lopez picked up her first career start as an Osprey
- For the second time in three matches, Turner matched her career-high with five blocks a mark she set last Friday against FGCU.
Coach Loeswick's Thought
" I really liked our fight tonight. We served tough and were in some really long and great rallies. Even with some offensive struggles, we found ourselves in a couple of really tight sets. I know our team is excited to battle tomorrow night against Lipscomb."
