Wasser Nets Overtime Game-Winner against NJIT
10/2/2017 3:39:00 PM | Women's Soccer
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Senior Sarah Wasser buried the game-winning goal to lift North Florida women's soccer past NJIT with a 1-0 victory in double overtime on Monday in ASUN action.
With the win, North Florida moved ahead of Stetson in the ASUN to sit in first place with six points.
GOALS
UNF: 104' - Wasser (Unassisted)
HOW IT HAPPENED
CONFER'S CORNER
"Overall, it wasn't a sharp weekend for us. We talked about it in the huddle that we have to come into training on Wednesday with a good focus to get ready for the weekend. We were a little sluggish to start, but the girls found a way to win. Of course I am proud of the win and proud of their resiliency. I think we need to be a little bit cleaner in the final third and our decision making wasn't great. These games are tough - rescheduled games don't provide a lot of atmosphere. I told the girls that we had to bring the energy. NJIT battled hard and they were organized better than they have been in the past. Again we found a way to win. Now we regroup and focus on Lipscomb and Kennesaw State next weekend.Â
"It was nice for Sarah to get the goal. It has been a long time coming. She has had some great opportunities, but the keepers kept coming up with saves. I am happy for her and proud of her for burying that free kick. It was a well-deserved goal for her."
