Game Notes
Breadeu! Bredeau! Bredeau!: Senior
Alexis Bredeau put together a historic performance last Sunday recording the first Osprey hat trick since 2007. She also assisted on the game-winning goal late in the second half and finished with a new program D-1 era (2006-present) record, seven points. For her efforts she was named the Atlantic Sun Conference Player of the Week, the first time an Osprey has won the award since 2013.
Goals on Goals: Powered by Bredeau's three-score performance, the Ospreys tallied five goals in a comeback victory over Alabama State last Sunday. The five scores were the most scored under Head Coach
Robin Confer who took over the program prior to the 2014 season.
Making an Impact: Junior
Sarah Wasser quietly had one of the best games of her career on Sunday afternoon. She recorded career-high, four points (1g, 2a) including the game-tying goal and an assist on the game-winner. Wasser converted her second career penalty kick in the 62nd minute before serving the game winner to a waiting
Katy Mixon on the back post 10 minutes later.
Defensive Leadership: Senior Gabrielle Ligouri has been on the pitch more than any Osprey this season, logging 476 minutes. The versatile defender is also tied for the team lead with 10 shots, with five of them landing on target.
Series History: This will be the third time in four seasons the Ospreys square off against Furman. The Paladins have won both previous meetings including a 1-0 decision at Hodges Stadium last season. Presbyterian handed the Ospreys a 1-0 overtime loss in Jacksonville last season and currently owns a 4-1 advantage in an all-time series that dates back to 1997.
About Furman: For the first time in school history, the Paladins have pitched four-straight shutouts to start the season. They have not surrendered a goal in 380 minutes of action. Furman has been especially tough at home and come into the match unbeaten in its last 14 games at Seagraves Field. Goalkeeper Kelsey Weaver has seen the majority of action in net, playing 208 minutes with three saves. On Sept. 1, the Paladins handed ASUN foe, USC Upstate a 2-0 defeat in Spartanburg.
About Presbyterian: The Blue Hose enter the weekend with a record of 1-2 and are coming off back-to-back 4-0 losses to Cal State Bakersfield and Mercer at home last weekend. Friday night will by Presbyterian's first road test against winless Wofford (0-5). All five of the team's goals were scored in the season opener against Hampton. Kristen Peagler and Fran Whitesides each have two goals to lead the team.
