Game Notes
Heating Up: After beginning the season winless in their first four games, the Ospreys have begun to turn the corner. Behind seven goals, the Ospreys are 2-1 in their last three games including a 2-0 victory last Sunday at Presbyterian.
Defense Getting It Done: North Florida goalie,
Victoria Ekeli, brought home the ASUN Defensive Player of the Week award after allowing just one goal in 180 minutes of play. Furman, the Southern Conference's top offense, scored in the first two minutes of the game on Friday but remained scoreless during the final 88 minutes of play. Ekeli has totaled 31 saves in seven games played this season, tied for the fourth most in the Atlantic Sun.
Star Senior: Alexis Bredeau has been the Ospreys top scoring threat in 2016. The senior midfielder leads the team in points with 11 (3g, 2a) and has played more minutes than any other midfielder on the team.
Super Sophomore: Krista Colubiale led the Ospreys to victory on Sunday by netting both goals in the 2-0 win over Presbyterian. Colubiale now has five goals and three assists in her collegiate career at North Florida. The second-year forward was the Ospreys leading scorer a year ago.
All-Time Series: This weekend the Ospreys look to get back at the Fighting Camels, who have won the last three matches when the teams face eachother. This will be the first meeting between North Florida and Wofford, and the Ospreys hope to set the tone and kick off the series with a win.
About Wofford: After losing in the quarterfinals of the Southern Conference Tournament during the 2015-2016 season, Wofford has had a slow start to 2016. Wofford comes into the weekend at 1-5 and the team has struggled to put points on the board, tallying just six goals in six games. Wofford defeated Presbyterian in a 3-1 victory on Friday, led by goals from Katie Beuerlein, Emma Fletcher and Hannah Washko. Beuerlein leads the Terriers in goals this season with a total of three netted.
About Campbell: The Camels will be coming into the weekend on a three-game win streak with victories over CSU Bakersfield, VMI and S.C. Upstate. Their record of 5-2 has them sitting atop the Big South Conference standings. Campell's young roster consists of 22 underclassman and 16 returning letterwinners from a team that was the runner-up in the Big South championship game. The team has already tallied 19 goals in just seven matches. The trio of Christine Kindt, Rosie O'Neal and Payton Ormsby lead the team with three goals apiece while Kine Thorsvik leads the team with five assists. Thorsvik was named Big South Women's Soccer Attacking Player of the Week on Monday.
