GETTING COMFORTABLE BEING UNCOMFORTABLE
Junior setter Carinne Turner is stepping up to the plate when it comes to getting uncomfortable. She is now attacking, blocking and doing everything else in between as she narrowly missed a triple-double - which would have been the first in program history - with nine kills, 16 assists, 11 digs, 2 block assists and an ace.
HOW IT HAPPENED
FIU 3, UNF 1 (13-25, 25-21, -19, -20)
North Florida got out to a hot start in the opening frame with a 9-2 run and never looked back. The Ospreys hit .439 in the first set before being shut down for the remainder of the match. Set two saw FIU take control of the game after forcing 11 UNF miscues. From there, the momentum stayed in the visitors favor. UNFgot as close as three on a kill from Turner, but it quickly swung back to FIU on final kill from Marina Dal Pozzo.
The third frame had FIU with a 15-8 lead which included a 9-3 run for the Panthers. North Florida then pushed to be behind just 18-15 after a 7-3 run in the Ospreys' favor, but it was short lived as FIU quickly went ahead after two UNF errors and an ace to take a 2-1 lead. The final set was in the Panthers' favor from start to finish.
