No. 9 Florida Shut Out @OspreyMTen in NCAA Tournament

Box Score GAINESVILLE, Fla. - No. 9 Florida pushed past North Florida men's tennis, 4-0, in the first round of the NCAA Tournament on Saturday afternoon at the Alfred A. Ring Complex.

The Ospreys wrap up their season with an 11-12 mark and their first-ever Atlantic Sun Championship along with the NCAA appearance. Florida moves to 19-6 on the year and face USF in the second round.

"I am really proud of the guys. We had a great year and we finished well," said head coach Mark Finnegan. "We played a great Florida team. They really stuck to their game. Brian has done a phoenom job with the team here. We are excited about the NCAA Singles & Doubles Championships for Jack and Yannick coming ahead. We can't thank our alumni and supporters enough for showing up today and how thankful I am for that. I really think the program is moving in the right direction and I am already excited for the next year."

The Gators opened the match with the doubles point as the No. 1 duo of Diego Hildago and Gorgon Watson took down No. 39 Jack Findel-Hawkins and Yannick Zuern, 6-2. The 80th-ranked pair of Elliott Orrkin and Maxx Lipman took the win in the No. 2, 6-3 to go up 1-0.

In singles, Zuern was the lone Osprey to grab a set when he went out in front of No. 37 Orkin, 6-3 in the No. 2 position. Orkin was leading in the second set when the match was called. The Gators No. 6 and No. 5 pairs made it a 3-0 game before No. 53 Alfredo Perez clinched the victory with a 6-4, 6-1 victory at the No. 2 spot.

While most of the Ospreys season is finished, Findel-Hawkins and Zuern will continue theirs at the NCAA Singles and Doubles Tournament beginning May 25 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. UNF returns all but one of their players for the 2016-17 where it will look to defend its A-Sun title.
