JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - ETSU edged out North Florida women's tennis in the final set in the last match to win, 4-3, on a sunny Thursday afternoon at the UNF Tennis Courts.

Marina Espana made it a 3-3 game with her victory at the No. 4 spot, making it a must-win situation at the No. 1 court who was in its third set. Noemi Hemmerich had little trouble in the opening frame with a 6-2 win, but Lyn Yee Choo bounced back with a 6-2, 6-3 win to give the Bucs the victory. With the score 40-all in the final set, Hemmerich's hit was returned by Choo who blasted it into the deep corner out of reach to secure the win.

North Florida opened the match with a quick point in doubles. Hemmerich and Quetzali Vazquez grabbed a 6-3 win at the No. 1 match before Luise Intert and Rafaela Gomez won 6-2 at the No. 2 position.

In singles play, Michelle Valdez made it a 2-0 match with a 6-1, 6-2 victory in the No. 2 position. ETSU then got a point at No. 3 and No. 6 before Luise Intert won her match. Intert battled to a 7-5, 6-2 win at the No. 5 position. With No. 4 and No. 1 still left to play it was going to come down to the wire. Gomez dropped a 7-5, 7-5 decision against Espana and set it up for the must-win which fell to the opponents.

The Ospreys have a busy weekend ahead as they travel to Alabama to take part in the Jaguar Classic at South Alabama. UNF takes on VCU at noon on Saturday before playing the hosts, No. 41 South Alabama, at noon on Saturday.
