th career save in the 2-1 loss to Lipscomb on Sunday, Oct. 2. Ekeli made 5 saves in the game, upping her season total to 52. Since joining the team, Ekeli has beat her season save record set from the previous season. She has already set her season save record in 2016 and there is still four games remaining in the regular season.
Slow Starts: North Florida has not scored in the first half of a game since their 5-4 victory over Alabama State over a month ago. The Ospreys have scored seven goals in their last seven games, winning three of them. All seven have been scored in the final 45 minutes.
Close Calls in ASUN: The Ospreys have dropped each of the first three league matches by one goal. Jacksonville handed North Florida their first defeat in a 1-0 loss, when Maya Fischer scored on a penalty kick in the 74
th minute. The Ospreys suffered two, 2-1 defeats at the hands of ASUN leader Lipscomb, and second-place, Kennesaw State.
All Time Series: In the first ever meeting since NJIT joined the ASUN Conference, the Ospreys defeated the Highlanders, 3-0 in Jacksonville last October. North Florida has gotten the best of USC Upstate in the previous matchups with an overall record of 11-4-2. The Ospreys have not been defeated by the Spartans since 2004.
About NJIT: The Highlanders kicked off conference play with a 3-0 win against USC Upstate on Sept. 24 but have dropped their last two league games since (L, 3-2 Stetson, L, 1-0 FGCU). NJIT has continued to create scoring opportunities throughout the season by tallying the most shots in the ASUN conference with 208. The team is also tied for second in goals scored by netting 22 this season. The Highlanders are led by sophomore Neema Liverpool, who has scored five goals in 13 games. Liverpool has been awarded the ASUN Player of The Week honor two times in 2016, which only FGCU's Tabby Tindell has accomplished.
About USC Upstate: The Spartans have not been able to find a victory in 2016, leaving them at the bottom of the ASUN conference standings with a 0-11-2 overall record. The team comes into the weekend on a nine-game losing streak having scored two goals on the season. Freshman Delaney Bussey leads the team in both goals and assists with one in each category. The Spartans have allowed the most goals this season, but they also have the most saves with 95, 15 more than the next best team.
