Shelby Panter before Saturday's home quad meet with FAU, Gardner-Webb and UNC Asheville. The meet is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. at Episcopal High School.

Fab Freshmen: In their collegiate debuts freshmen
Jacqueline Barklund,
Francesca Vandersluis and
Ally Schillinger each came away with event wins last weekend at FGCU. Barklund won the 50 backstroke (27.83), Schillinger finished first in the 50 breaststroke (30.50) and
Ally Schillinger touched first in the 400 IM (4:46.66).
Backstroking Corps: As evidenced in last week's meet at FGCU, backstroke will be one of the best events for North Florida in 2016. The trio of Barklund,
Kaleigh Newcomb and
Angel Morrison finished 1-2-3 respectively in the 50 backstroke. Newcomb is the school-record holder in the 100 backstroke.
Top Dual Meet Time: The Ospreys 200 freestyle relay combination of Vandersluis,
Nicole Nesto,
Leeanna Cass and
Amber Pearce turned in a time of 1:39.90. With three newcomers in the relay, the time would have been the fastest dual meet time of the 2015-16 season.
Home Pool Advantage: Saturday will be the lone home meet of season for North Florida. Hurricane Matthew forced the cancellation of the season-opening tri-meet with FAU and Gardner-Webb. The two opponents agreed to join Saturday's UNC Asheville meet.
Senior Leadership: Maxwell, Morrison and Panter lead a young Osprey team comprised 19 freshman and sophomores. Both Maxwell and Morrison are four-year members of the North Florida Swim program and Panter came to UNF as a junior transfer.
About FAU: The Owls square off against the Ospreys for the first time since the 2005-06 season. FAU has won all five previous meetings. The Owls dropped their season-opening meet at home to CCSA member, Campbell, 138-67 last Friday. Freshman Danielle Zacharias won the 500 freestyle and the 1000 freestyle in the meet.
About Gardner-Webb: Saturday will serve as the season-opener for the Runnin' Bulldogs. It will mark the eighth meeting between North Florida and Gardner Webb in an all-time series that began in 2001. The Runnin' Bulldogs have won the last four meets against the Ospreys including a 190-103 win back in 2013-14. In last year's CCSA Championships, Gardner-Webb finished fourth overall.
About UNC Asheville: The Bulldogs also fell victim to Campbell in a 159-103 decision back on Oct. 8. UNC Asheville has dropped two of their three meetings to the Ospreys. In this year's season-opening meet, Emily Werth (100 Backstroke – 59.84) and Morgan Rulevich (100 Breastroke – 2:25.61) each took home event victories.
