Match Notes
Battle of the Birds: North Florida remains unbeaten in ASUN play after Tuesday's 3-2 win over No. 11 FGCU. The Ospreys scored three unanswered goals, including the game-winner from
Mikey Connell in the 64
th minute. It marked the first time in 10 previous chances the Ospreys have defeated a Top-25 opponent.
Multi-Goal Scorer: Freshman
Adrian Nunez helped the Ospreys tie the game up with his first multi-goal game of his young career. He registered goals in the 29
th minute and eventually in the 58
th minute to tie the game at two. He capped his night with an assist to Connell for the game-winner. He is the fourth Osprey in the D-1 era to record a five-point game.
Streak(s) Ended: The Ospreys were responsible for ending FGCU's 29-game regular season home win streak against ASUN opponents and also snapped the nation's longest win streak in the process (10 games). It's the second time the Ospreys have ended a significant FGCU streak. In the 2013 ASUN Tournament, the Ospreys 2-1 triumph ended FGCU's 25-game home win streak against ASUN opponents.
Uncharted Territory: The Ospreys, winners of three-straight, have not won four consecutive games in the program's D-1 era (2005-present). The last time North Florida won four in-a-row was 2000 and the school record in seven-straight back in 1996.
Last Time vs. Stetson: Two first half goals were enough for North Florida in last year's, 2-0 win at Hodges Stadiumj.
Milan Kovacs was credited with the game-winner in the 15
th minute of the game. The shutout was the second of five for the Ospreys in 2015.
All-Time Series: Stetson holds an 8-3 advantage in a series that began when North Florida joined the ASUN in 2005. North Florida is 0-5 when playing on the road against the Hatters. The Ospreys have captured two of the last three meetings, both shutouts.
About Stetson: The Hatters are fresh off a thrilling, 2-1 overtime victory over in-state foe UCF on Tuesday. Freshman Finn Busmann punched home the game-winning goal in the second overtime session, snapping a three-game losing streak. Senior goalkeeper Paul Ladwig leads the ASUN and ranks eighth in the country with 76 saves. The Hatter offense has only scored two goals in a game four times in 13 games. Sophomore Luke Ferreira leads the squad with 11 points (4g, 3a).
