TAMPA, Fla. – The North Florida men's soccer team (2-3) will look to make it back-to-back wins against Florida schools on Monday night when they face USF (3-2) on Monday at 7:00 p.m. The match will mark the first ever meeting between the two programs.
3-Peat: The Ospreys were nearly down and out last Wednesday until the offense finally broke through in the 88
th minute to tie the game against UCF. Senior defender
Casey Caronis was credited with the equalizer which was one of three tremendous chances in the last five minutes of regulation. The game required extra time, in which
Milan Kovacs was able to provide the golden goal in the 98
th minute. It was the third-straight year the Ospreys took down in-state foe, UCF and the second time in three season it required overtime.
The Overtime Story: The last time the Ospreys won an overtime game was Nov. 2, 2013 when they defeated Stetson, 1-0. North Florida only engaged in overtime play twice last season, tying FGCU and dropping a 2-1 decision to Furman early in the year. Under Head Coach

First Time, Long Time: Redshirt senior
Casey Caronis scored his first goal in 35 games after tying the game late on Wednesday night. The defender last scored on Sept. 2, 2012, a game-winner against FAU. Caronis has started 45 games for the Ospreys, the fifth most in the program's D-1 era (2005-present).
Offensive Diversity: Caronis became the Ospreys' eighth different goal-scorer on Wednesday night. North Florida has nine goals this season, the second most in the Atlantic Sun this season. In each of the past two seasons, the Ospreys have featured 13 different goal scorers.
Goalkeeper Wins: The Atlantic Sun's reining Atlantic Sun Goalkeeper of the Year,
Kyle Nasta achieved another milestone on Wednesday night. He was credited with his 10
th win which is tied for the most in the school's D-1 era.
About USF: The highlight of the young season for the Bulls came on Aug. 31 when they upset No. 3 Georgetown with a 2-0 win in Tampa. The victory was the first over top-10 team since 2011 and helped USF garner a No. 24 ranking in the NSCAA Coaches Poll. The poll appearance was short-lived as 2-0 losses to No. 5 Notre Dame and No. 18 Indiana evened the USF record to 2-2. In their latest appearance on the pitch, the Bulls recorded a 2-1 win over Georgia Southern on Friday night.
