JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The North Florida softball team hosts Jacksonville for their final home conference series this Saturday and Sunday at the UNF Softball Complex.
The Ospreys (26-23, 8-8 A-Sun) sit in fourth place in the Atlantic Sun standings, one spot ahead of the Dolphins (23-22, 5-7). North Florida holds a record of 14-6 against Jacksonville.
"This is another important series for us and one against our cross-town rival," says coach
Marcie Hickey. "I expect the games to be a battle as we head down the stretch toward the conference tournament."
The Class of 2015 Ospreys will be recognized this weekend, which includes
Kayla Goff,
Abby Tewey,
Kaylie Wallace and
Kelly Wilson.
Goff comes into the weekend with a career record of 35-32 and a career total of 316 strikeouts. Her strikeout total is currently eighth in the all-time career marks. While her innings pitched sits at 422.2, good for seventh all-time.
Tewey enters the series with a career total in home runs of four and RBIs of 53. She notched her first home run of the season in a crucial conference road game against Lipscomb last week.
Wallace enters the series as one of the more decorated Ospreys' pitcher's. The 2013 A-Sun Pitcher of the Year totals 58 wins, 423 strikeouts and 611 innings pitched. Wallace ranks third all-time in wins and innings pitched and sixth all-time in strikeouts.
Wilson totals seven home runs, 41 RBIs, 29 doubles and 54 stolen bases in her career. Wilson ranks second all-time in career stolen bases and sixth in stolen base percentage, as well as seventh all-time in doubles
"This is also a perfect opportunity for us to honor our seniors," added Hickey. "They have given so much to our program over the years and put their heart and soul into making this program successful."
The action starts with a doubleheader Saturday at 1 p.m. and concludes with the single-game matchup Sunday at 1 p.m. Live stats and a full recap will be available following the action at UNFOspreys.com.
