JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – No. 51 University of North Florida men's tennis extended its winning streak to six matches with a hard-fought 4-1 victory over No. 57 South Alabama. It was also the Ospreys' sixth triumph over a nationally-ranked team this season.

"We had an amazing crowd and beautiful weather. We really played solid tennis and got great results," said head coach Mark Finnegan. "I am so proud of these guys. I have a lot of respect for South Alabama and they pushed us all the way, but it was our night."

UNF dominated No. 2 and No. 3 doubles en route to taking the doubles point and going up 1-0 in the match. Lasse Muscheites and Zach Goldberg cruised to a 6-1 win at No. 3 doubles against Tim Srkala and Olivier Gingras. Caio Gomes and Yannick Zuern overpowered Tuki Jacobs and Juan Troglia 6-1 at the No. 2 spot, allowing UNF to clinch the doubles point.

Singles was a close competition as four of the six matches went into three sets. South Alabama tied the match at 1-1 after No. 84 Daniel Leitner won after No. 85 Jack Findel-Hawkins retired at No. 1 singles. The match was tied at 5-5 in the first set at the time of Findel-Hawkins' retirement.

UNF gained a 2-1 advantage after Norbert Nemcsek held off Gerhard Gruindelingh 6-3, 7-5 at No. 3 singles. At the No. 5 court, Lasse Muscheites hung on for a 6-4, 2-6, 6-3 win against Olivier Gringras to give the Ospreys a 3-1 lead. Zach Goldberg secured match-point at No. 6 singles with a 6-0, 4-6, 6-1 triumph over Juan Troglia.

UNF is scheduled to return to action on Sunday against East Carolina at 3 p.m.
