JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The North Florida softball team goes to Columbia, S.C., for a doubleheader with South Carolina on Thursday, March 26 at the Carolina Softball Stadium at Beckham Field.
The Ospreys (21-13) look to get back on track in their first road trip in two weeks.
"We have an exciting week ahead of us with games at South Carolina, USC Upstate and Florida. We have played very well this year against high caliber teams so I'm anxious to get back on the field tomorrow, " says coach
Marcie Hickey. "Our goal is to get back to a high level of play and to be able to maintain that for the remainder of the season."
The North Florida lineup is led by juniors
Stacy McClelland,
Shelby Duncan and
Katie Mandigo, as well as senior
Kelly Wilson.
McClelland ranks first on the team and fourth in the conference in home runs (8), batting average (.419) and RBIs (27).
Duncan ranks second on the team and 10
th in the conference in batting average (.383), Duncan is also tied for the team lead and second in the conference in doubles (9).
Mandigo ranks second on the team and seventh in the conference in RBIs (26), while batting .303, good for fourth-best on the team.
Wilson is also tied for the team-lead in doubles with nine, good for second in the conference. Wilson also ranks first on the team and second in the conference in stolen bases (20).
The Ospreys pitching staff is led by seniors
Kayla Goff and
Kaylie Wallace. Goff ranks second in the conference in ERA (2.12) and fourth in the conference in wins (10) and strikeouts (71).
Wallace ranks fourth in the conference in ERA (2.39) and seventh in strikeouts (49). Wallace and Goff are both tied for eighth in the conference for complete games with seven.
