JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The North Florida softball team takes on Kennesaw State this Saturday and Sunday afternoon in A-Sun Conference play at the UNF Softball Complex.
"We are heading into the weekend looking to build on a streak of wins from this past week. I am anticipating another battle as we take on Kennesaw State at home," says coach
Marcie Hickey. "Every year they have a team that fights for seven innings so it's going to be important for us to score early and often in order to keep the momentum on our side."
The Ospreys (20-11, 2-1) have won their last four games and look to continue their success as they return to conference play.
The Owls (17-9, 0-3) are coming off of a doubleheader sweep of Furman on Wednesday.
Junior
Shelby Duncan and senior
Kelly Wilson lead the lineup for the Ospreys. Duncan is second on the team in batting average (.364), leads the team in hits (39) and is tied for the team lead in doubles (9).
Wilson is batting .330 and is second on the team in hits (37) and has notched nine doubles to be tied for the team lead. Wilson also has two homers and 13 RBIs. She adds speed on the bases, going 15-16 in stolen bases so far this year.
In the bullpen, senior
Kayla Goff looks to continue her success this year. She currently holds a 10-2 record in 12 starts with an ERA of 1.74. She's also tallied 67 strikeouts and seven complete games.
The action starts with a doubleheader Saturday at 1 p.m. and then closes with a single-game matchup on Sunday at 1 p.m. Live stats for all three games this weekend will be provided by UNFOspreys.com.
