Box Score NASHVILLE, Tenn. – No. 69 University of North Florida men's tennis began the Atlantic Sun season with a 4-1 victory at Lipscomb Thursday afternoon at the Huston-Marsh-Griffith Tennis Center.
The Ospreys claimed the doubles point by taking the first and third doubles matches.
Caio Gomes and
Yannick Zuern powered their way to an 8-3 No. 1 doubles victory against Rob Mitchell and Philippe Courteau.
Norbert Nemcsek and
Julian Bradley added an 8-2 win at No. 2 doubles, downing Alejandro Manzanares and Alex Pavel.
UNF then won three of the four completed singles matches. Nemcsek edged out Manzanarea 7-5, 6-4 at No. 2 singles. Zuern cruised by Courteau 6-2, 6-1 on the No. 3 court. At No. 4 singles, Bradley claimed a 6-4, 6-2 win over Pavel.
Lipscomb's only point came at No. 1 singles with Mitchell defeated Gomes in a close 6-7 (3), 6-2, 7-6 (3) match.
UNF returns to action on Friday at Northern Kentucky. Match time is set for 3 p.m.
