Boxscore JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – University of North Florida women's tennis finished its home-opening weekend with a 5-2 victory against Troy on Sunday afternoon at the UNF Tennis Complex.

Audra Cohen. "We had to go for the win on every court and trust that collectively, we would win the match. Matches like this are great for us because we are gaining trust in each position and we are playing fearless tennis."
Sunday's match concluded a 2-0 weekend for the Ospreys on their home court. UNF cruised past UNC Wilmington 6-1 on Friday afternoon.
UNF fought back to claim the doubles point. Troy captured the first doubles match as Anja Cosovic and Trang Huynh defeated
Marina Cunningham and
Taylor Hollander at No. 1 doubles.
Quetzali Vazquez and
Esther Zuniga claimed a victory at No. 3 doubles, topping Linnea Skymnberg and Brooke Durden 6-4. The Ospreys clinched doubles point on court No. 2 as
Luise Intert and
Rebeca Pereira edged out Jiayuan Xue and Sanea Ohta 7-5.
Troy evened the match score at 1-1 as Huynh quickly got past Zuniga 6-2, 6-1 at No. 2 singles. However, Vazquez overpowered Julia Albuquerque 6-1, 6-0 at No. 5 singles to put UNF up 2-1.
The Ospreys gained a 3-1 advantage after Hollander tallied a 6-2, 6-4 No. 1 singles victory over Ohta. Anja Cosovic's 6-3, 7-5 win against Cunningham at the No. 3 position cut UNF's lead down to one.
Valdez fended off Xue in three sets on the No. 4 court in order to seal the win for the Ospreys. Valdez picked up a 6-2 first-set victory, but Xue forced a tie-breaking third set after edging out Valdez 6-4 in the second set. Valdez cruised by Xue in the final set 6-2 for the win.
The match finished with Intert rallying from a first-set loss to a three-set victory. Margot De Haan quickly had a 6-2 first-set win, but Intert fought back in the second set. After being down 4-3 in the second set, Intert scored the next three points to take the second set 6-4. She went on to capture the third set 6-3.
UNF returns to action on Wednesday, Feb. 18 against UCF. Match time is set for 2 p.m., at the UNF Tennis Complex. Admission is free to all UNF women's tennis home matches.
