Jacksonville, Fla. – The North Florida softball team takes on Maine, James Madison, Virginia Tech and Jacksonville State in their first home tournament of the season this Friday and Saturday at the UNF Softball Complex.
The Ospreys (5-0) look to carry the momentum from last weekend's sweep of the Troy Invitational. They face two tournament teams from last season in James Madison and Virginia Tech.
Earlier this week, North Florida swept the first pair of weekly awards. Senior
Kayla Goff earned Pitcher of the Week while junior
Stacy McClelland earned Player of the Week.
Goff enters this weekend with a 3-0 record with two complete-game shutouts, 20 strikeouts and no earned runs on 17 innings pitched.
McClelland leads the lineup with a .409 batting average, a team-leading two home runs, nine RBIs and slugging percentage of .773.
The action starts with two straight games Friday, first a matchup against Maine at 4:45 p.m., followed by James Madison at 7 p.m.
Saturday's slate features a 2:30 p.m. tilt with Virginia Tech, after a game break the Ospreys take on Jacksonville State.
