Day 2 Results
MELBOURNE, Fla. – It was a banner day for the North Florida swim team as a total of 23 personal bests, including three in the program's all-time top-10, were turned in on the second day of the Florida Tech Invite. After two days of competition, the Ospreys sit in second place with 605 team points.
 
A remarkable team overall team effort saw standout swims by senior Amy Taylor, freshman Kaleigh Newcomb and sophomore Chase Walker who each made their mark on program history. Taylor continued her torrent run on the Osprey record books by winning the 500 freestyle with a time of 4:52.85, a career best and the fourth fastest in school history. In the finals of the 50 freestyle, Chase Walker posted a blistering time of 23.97  to finish third overall. It is the third fastest time in program history and she becomes only the fourth Osprey ever to swim a sub-24, 50 freestyle time. Freshman Kaleigh Newcomb collected a third place finish of her own, placing third in the 100 backstroke with the fifth fastest time in school history (57.57) in the evening finals.

"I could not be more proud of the effort of these young ladies today," said second-year Head Coach Ian Coffey. "They have worked hard and judging by today's times, they got their rewards. I'm excited to see what the next two days have in store for us."
 
Freshman Lauren Kelso was the Ospreys top finisher in the 200 individual medley, placing fourth. Her time of 2:13.96 topped her season best and is the fastest by any Osprey this season.
 
In the day's only relay, Newcomb, Kelso Walker and Taylor Schmidinger registered the fastest 200 medley relay time of the season (1:50.24).
