Live StatsUNF-Lipscomb ESPN3 BroadcastUNF-NJIT ESPN3 BroadcastTickets JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – University of North Florida volleyball begins a four-match homestand – its longest stretch of home matches for the season – with a pair of Atlantic Sun matches at UNF Arena. The Ospreys host Lipscomb on Friday at 6 p.m., and then welcome NJIT on Saturday at 1 p.m.
"We are excited to be back at home and play the Atlantic Sun leader and last season's regular season champion Lipscomb on Friday and then conference newcomer NJIT on Saturday," said head coach
Steve Loeswick. "We had great support two weeks ago when we hosted Jacksonville and hope to have another awesome crowd come out for this weekend."
UNF wrapped up a week-long four-match road swing on Tuesday with a 3-0 sweep at Savannah State. The Ospreys went 3-1 during that four-match span, which included a 3-2 victory over USC Upstate last Friday.
Friday night's match with Lipscomb is the Ospreys' Pink Match for the season and fans are encouraged to wear pick. Additionally, those that attend Friday night's volleyball match can use their ticket to get into the UNF women's soccer game later in the evening that is at 7:30 p.m., at Hodges Stadium.
Tickets are $5 for adult; $3 for Youth under 17, Senior Citizens 55+, Military and UNF Faculty and Staff with proper ID. Students with a valid Osprey1 Card and Children 2-and-under are free. Tickets can be purchased online at www.UNFOspreys.com, by phone at (904) 620-BIRD (2473) or at UNF Arena.
Change in Times: Both matches are starting at different times than what is typically played on a Friday and Saturday at UNF Arena. The Ospreys' match against Lipscomb at Friday is at 6 p.m., while Saturday's match with NJIT is at 1 p.m.
Home Court Advantage: Home court certainly plays to the Ospreys' advantage under head coach
Steve Loeswick as UNF is 29-15 when playing at UNF Arena.
Going To Five: Almost like the 2014 season when UNF went to five sets 11 times, five-set matches are becoming a slight norm for UNF in 2015. The Ospreys have played at least one five-set match in five of the six weeks played thus far this season. UNF is 5-0 in five-set matches this season, an improvement from 2014's 4-7 mark in five sets.
Scouting Lipscomb: Only team entering the weekend with an undefeated conference record... had a marquee win during the first tournament of the season, upsetting No. 23 Utah 3-1 during the Utah Classic... has gone to three sets in last four matches, winning three of those... comes off a pair of 3-0 sweeps against Stetson and Florida Gulf Coast... returns the 2013 Atlantic Sun Player of the Year Jewell Dobson, who missed the 2014 season after suffering an injury... Dobson leads the team with 3.16 kills per set... Molly Spitznagle is hitting an Atlantic Sun-best .358, while Kayla Ostrom leads the conference with 11.55 assists per set.
UNF-Lipscomb Series: Lipscomb leads the all-time series 12-3, but both of last year's matches went to five sets.
Scouting NJIT: In its first season as an Atlantic Sun member... snapped a six-match losing skid with a 3-1 win over Stetson on Sunday... begins its trip to the River City on Friday night at Jacksonville.... Danica Vukotic leads the Highlanders with a 3.98 kill-per-set average... earlier this season, Nina Vukotic registered 32 kills and Danica Vukotic had 30 kills in NJIT's 3-2 victory over Rider on Sept. 18.
UNF-NJIT Series: First Meeting.
