Â
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A week-long four-match road swing comes to an end on Tuesday night as University of North Florida volleyball makes the trip to Savannah State for a 6 p.m., match at Willcox-Wiley Gym.
Â
"It's another opportunity to go out on the court and get better," said head coach Steve Loeswick. "Having a midweek road match is never easy, but our team is focused and ready for the challenge."
Â
The Ospreys' stretch of road matches started with last Tuesday's visit to Bethune-Cookman. UNF also traveled to USC Upstate and Kennesaw State during that span and comes off a 3-1 loss to Kennesaw State on Saturday, which halted the Ospreys' 10-match winning streak.
Â
Tuesday is UNF's last non-conference road match of the season. UNF only has one non-conference contest remaining on its schedule as Florida A&M visits UNF Arena on Oct. 28.
Â
Â
Just A Second: Tuesday night is just the second time UNF and Savannah State have met in program history. The first match occurred on Sept. 13, 1991, which was UNF's second match in the entire program's history. UNF won that match 3-0.
Â
Tuesday Night Fun: UNF is 2-0 in Tuesday night matches this season, picking up wins against Florida A&M on Sept. 15 and Bethune-Cookman last Tuesday. Savannah State is the third MEAC team for the Ospreys on a Tuesday night.
Â
Scouting Savannah State: Seeks first win of the season... all matches played this season have only gone to three sets... 0-1 against Atlantic Sun teams already this season, falling 3-0 to Kennesaw State on Aug. 29... Gabrielle Nathaniel (79), Caitlynn Masoe (79), Makayla Tam (78) and Christian Lyle (75) all have over 70 kills for the season... Alexis Washington averages 3.21 digs per set.
