KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – No. 72 University of North Florida men's tennis began the Tennessee Spring Invitational with a 4-0 sweep over former Atlantic Sun rival No. 67 ETSU on Friday at the Goodfriend Tennis Center.
 
"What a great win against ETSU, who is going to end up being a top-ranked team," said head coach Mark Finnegan. "Every guy stepped up and played their role for us today. I could not be more proud of these guys."
 
In doubles play, ETSU won the first match, but UNF fought back and captured the last two matches in order to take the doubles point and go up 1-0. Ismael Merino and Diego Nunez defeated No. 28 Jack Findel-Hawkins and Norbert Nemcsek 6-1 at No. 1 doubles. Zach Goldberg and Lasse Muscheites evened it all up on the No. 3 court with a 6-4 victory over Sebastian Yllera and Conner Huertas. Caio Gomes and Yannick Zuern edged out Rogerio Ribierio and David Biosca 7-6 (2) at No. 2 doubles in order to seal the point for the Ospreys.
 
Muscheites won the first singles match of the day with a 6-2, 6-4 victory over Yllera at No. 5 singles, allowing the Ospreys to go up 2-0. No. 72 Findel-Hawkins knocked off No. 85 Biosca 6-4, 6-4 on the No. 1 court as UNF held a three-point lead. Julian Bradley claimed the match point for UNF with a 6-4, 6-4 triumph against Merino at No. 6 singles.
 
UNF continues play at the Tennessee Spring Invitational on Saturday against host No. 17 Tennessee at 10 a.m., at the Goodfriend Tennis Center.
