TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – No. 72 University of North Florida men's tennis ended its season-opening weekend with a 4-1 victory over No. 71 St. John's at the Seminole Invitational on Sunday at the Scott Speicher Tennis Center.

"This was a superb win today," said head coach Mark Finnegan. "We had a lot of adversity and handled it like winners. Overall, we showed a lot of resilience to get the win. We played a lot of tennis in a short amount of time, so it was great to see to guys stay positive and energetic."

The Ospreys won doubles points in order to take a 1-0 lead in the match. Julian Bradley and Yannick Zuern won the first doubles match, earning a 6-3 triumph over Erick Reyes and Freddy Ruiz Acevedo at No. 3 doubles. No. 28 Jack Findel-Hawkins and Norbert Nemcsek clinched the doubles point with a 6-1 victory over Vaidik Munshaw and Vasili Caripi at No. 1 doubles.

UNF went up 2-0 in the match after Zach Goldberg claimed a 6-4, 6-3 victory against M.J. Every at No. 5 singles. St. John's earned the match's next point with Reyes defeating Nemcsek 7-6, 6-3 at No. 2 singles.

However, UNF rattled off two more singles victories in order to seal the win. At No. 3 singles, Lasse Muscheites fought back for a three-set (1-6, 6-1, 6-4) triumph over Munshaw. Bradley claimed the match-winning point with a 6-2, 6-4 No. 4 singles win against Elio Livi.

The Ospreys return to action with three matches at next weekend's Tennessee Spring Invitational, facing No. 67 ETSU, No. 17 Tennessee and Southern Illinois. UNF begins the weekend against ETSU on Friday at 1:30 p.m.
