ATHENS, Ga.— North Florida's Jack Findel-Hawkins and Norbert Nemcsek ousted the nation's No. 1-ranked doubles team Yannick Hanfmann and Ray Sarmiento of Southern California 6-4, 6-1 in the opening round of the NCAA Men's Tennis Doubles Championships at the Dan Magill Tennis Center in Athens, Ga.
"It was another great day for Norbert and Jack establishing themselves as one of the best teams in the nation," said head coach Mark Finnegan. "Jack and Norbert had battled injuries leading into nationals, however, they stuck to what they do best and focused on their process goals. I'm very proud of how they handled adversity these past weeks and we will continue to put UNF tennis on the national stage. We are already looking forward to battling Pepperdine tomorrow."
In the first set, the Ospreys and Trojans held serve until 3-all when USC broke Nemcsek's serve to go up 4Â-3.  North Florida fought back and broke serve to tie the game at 4-4. Findel-Hawkins held serve to go up 5-4, and then the duo broke Hanfmann and Sarmiento claiming the first set 6-4.
Using the momentum of the first set victory, the Ospreys won the first three games in set two, holding serve twice and breaking USC once. UNF extended their advantage to 5-1, setting up Findel-Hawkins to serve for the match at 40-0, wit the freshman blistering a serve for the match winning ace.
The Ospreys face Pepperdine's Francis Alcantara and Alex Sarkinssian in the round of 16 on May 23 at 4 p.m.
