Historical Implications: The Bisons edged the Ospreys, 1-0 last season in Nashville to even the all-time series at 4-4-1. The last time the two teams met at Hodges Stadium, the Ospreys won a
thrilling, 3-2 decision in overtime back in 2012. Then freshman
Camilo Garcia was credited with the game-winning assist in the 108th minute to seal the victory.
Clean Scoresheets: North Florida has posted back-to-back Atlantic Sun Conference shutouts, blanking Jacksonville, 2-0 on Oct. 4 and last Saturday topping USC Upstate, 3-0. It marked the second-straight season under Head Coach
Derek Marinatos that the Ospreys were able to pitch consecutive shutouts against conference foes. Prior to last season, the Ospreys have only shutout consecutive conference opponents twice (2000 & 2007) and have never recorded three-straight shutouts of any opponents in program history.
Defensive Dominance: In the last two games, the Ospreys have allowed just one shot on goal. USC Upstate's shot in the 65th minute was the first on goal by a North Florida opponent in 155 minutes of action. No team has scored on the Ospreys in the month of October and the back line has not surrendered a goal in 187 minutes.
Courtesy of AtlanticSun.org Offensive Showcase: Saturday's match will feature two of the top three offenses in the Atlantic Sun. Lipscomb is tied for third in the league with 22 goals while the Ospreys rank third with 16. Only three of the Bisons 22 goals have come against league opponents while the Ospreys have seven against A-Sun foes, which is the second most in conference play this season.
Scouting Lipscomb: The Bisons have two of the league's leading top three goal scorers. Senior Luke Gearin, has found the back of the net seven times this fall and has registered a goal in three of the last four games. Right behind him is freshman Joseph Kerridge who has fives tallies in his first collegiate season. The Bisons are also solid defensive squad, boasting a 1.51 goals against average which is the second lowest in the league. Bisons freshman, Nate Davis has seen most of the action in goal for Lipscomb and has the league's second lowest goals against average (1.45).
Camp Day: Alums of the
Derek Marinatos Soccer Academy and Clay County soccer will receive free admission to Saturday night's game.
