The Ospreys are back in the pool for the first time since concluding The All-Florida Invitational in Gainesville. North Florida turned in a seventh place finish and had multiple swimmers qualify for evening finals against one of the most challenging fields they'll take on all season.
"Coming out of the All-Florida Invite, we learned that hard work is paying off and we produced some good swims," said first-year Head Coach
Ian Coffey. "Swimming against top competition like that will help us as the season progresses."
Thursday will be the first competition for West Florida in 2014 while Vanderbilt comes into the meet with a record of 3-3. Vanderbilt finished last weekend's home opener with wins over Campbell and University of Arkansas at Little Rock. It will mark the first time the Ospreys square off against the Commodores since North Florida's 162-69 win in 2007. Last year the Ospreys were able to top West Florida, 171.5-128.5 in Jacksonville.
"We'll be facing some top quality opponents in UWF and Vanderbilt and I expect us to go out and have a good meet," added Coffey. "It is time for us to get out and go, start swimming against other schools and see where we stack up."
