#MSOC Blanks FIU to Remain Undefeated

MIAMI, Fla. – The University of North Florida men's soccer team used seven saves by goalkeeper Brad Sienkiewicz and a timely goal by Pedro Carneiro to record a 1-0 victory on the road over FIU on Friday night at FIU Soccer Stadium. The Ospreys improved to 4-0-1 on the season with their second shutout of the season.

Defensively, the Ospreys posted their second shutout of the season. Sienkiewicz improved to 4-0-1 on the season with the win. The graduate student posted seven saves in the match, including a save with less than 30 seconds remaining to preserve the shutout.

Despite being outshot 23-to-9, North Florida was able to capitalize in the 19th minute. Carneiro was able to corral a ball shot by Jon-Michael Vieira. The transfer was able to sneak the ball past the keeper for what proved to be the match-winning goal. The goal was Carneiro's second of the season and the second-match winning goal of the year. Both of Carneiro's match-winning goals came in 1-0 shutout victories on the road.

Carneiro and Vieira finished the match with three shots apiece to lead the team. Sean Young posted a pair of shots, while Jean Rivaroli also had an attempt. Carneiro, Vieira and Young each finished the match with a shot on goal.

For FIU, Quentin Albrecht led the offensive attack with five shots, while Roberto Alterio and Colby Burdette each added four shots apiece. Between the posts, Lawrence Craggs allowed one goal while notching a pair of saves.

Both teams finished the match with three corner kicks apiece. The Ospreys were whistled for twice as many fouls as the Panthers, 14-7.
