Women's Golf Finishes 7th at Atlantic Sun Championship

JEKYLL ISLAND, Ga. -- The North Florida women's golf team earned a seventh-place finish Wednesday in their debut appearance at the Atlantic Sun Conference Championship help on Pine Lakes Golf Club.
The Ospreys, in their first season as a collegiate program this year, carded a final round 311 and finished the three-day event with a 920 tournament total. Final round action was highlighted by freshman Belinda George's personal best 75 (+3) that included an eagle on hole No. 7.
Mary Rodgers and Emelie Alpe finished tied for 18th in leading UNF's all freshmen lineup at the event. The pair both carded 54-hole totals of 230. Kelly Aylwin finished in a tie for 26th at 232 while George and Tess Huber were tied for 31st at 234.
"I am very proud of the season that we put together in our first year," said head coach Joanne Steele. "We definitely grew together as a team and saw improvement from everybody as our season went along. This was a great start for our program and I'm excited about the direction we are headed and looking forward to the upcoming seasons."
ETSU captured the team title with a tournament total of 880, six shots in front of runner-up Kennesaw State (886). Florida Gulf Coast finished third at 887 followed by Mercer (893), Stetson (905), Jacksonville (907), UNF, USC Upstate (934), Lipscomb (937) and Nothern Kentucky (990).
KSU's Ines Lescudier birdied seven of the her final nine holes en route to a tournament best 66 (-6) to claim the individual medalist title with a total of 210.
