Fall Frenzy Results
CHARLOTTE, N.C.—The University of North Florida swimming team concluded competition Sunday at the Wingate Fall Frenzy Invitational at the Mecklenburg County Aquatics Center earning a seventh-place finish.
The Ospreys compiled 447 points during the three-game competition.
In the 200-yard backstroke, Kristina Alexiou was the top finisher for the Ospreys racing to a time of 2:18.56. Angel Morrison (2:18.67) and Ana Cristina de Paula (2:19.72) followed suit finishing second and third among the Osprey competitors.
In the 100-yard freestyle, Maria Benard led UNF posting a time of 55.06. Mariana de Paula (55.12), Rebeca Bernard (55.17), Eva Porter (56.06), Janie Kennedy (56.79), Caitlyn Gutierrez (57.38) and Angel Morrison (59.90) also represented the Ospreys in the event.
Natalie McCallum (2:27.55), Bridget Woods (2:28.72) and de Paula (2:35.04) all qualified in the 200-yard breaststroke. In the finals, McCallum finished 11th with a time of 2:25.68, while Woods and dePaula clocked times of 2:28.17 and 2:31.24, respectively.
Amy Taylor (2:10.49) placed ninth in the 200-yard butterfly preliminaries and was joined by teammates Kara Plocharsky (2:13.16) and Lissa Janowicz (2:14.35) in qualifying for the finals. The trio posted finals times of: Taylor (2:10.49), Plocharsky (2:13.16) and Janowicz (2:14.35).
North Florida next competes with a home meet against UNC Asheville on Dec. 15 at the UNF Aquatic Center.
