Late Goal Lifts Lipscomb Over #MSOC

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The University of North Florida men's soccer team dropped a 1-0 decision to Lipscomb on Sunday afternoon at the Lipscomb Soccer Complex in Nashville, Tenn. The lone goal of the match came in the 68th minute off of a free kick by the Bisons.

The Ospreys were led by graduate assistant Brad Sienkiewicz who posted a season-high 10 saves in the match. Sienkiewicz tied for fifth in North Florida's single-match record for saves. The match was the third time in his North Florida career to post double-digit saves. Sienkiewicz posted 12 saves against Florida Gulf Coast (Oct. 14, 2012) and Lipscomb (Oct. 28, 2012) last season. The Brandon, Fla. native now has 22 saves in two matches against the Bisons (11 saves per match).

Offensively, North Florida recorded just five shots in the match with four shots on goal. Lipscomb was credited with 22 shots, including 11 shots on goal. The Ospreys were led by Camilo Garcia who recorded two shots that were both on goal. Luis Daniel Camejo and Demetri Zervos each posted shots on goal, while Jay Bolt added a shot.

Sienkieiwicz's counterpart Micah Bledsoe posted four saves in the match, en route to the shutout.

The match was scoreless through the first half. In the first stanza Lipscomb posted 14 shots, compared to just four by North Florida. Sienkiewicz recorded eight saves in the first half to keep the home team off of the scoreboard.

In the second half, Sienkiewicz was able to post a pair of saves, but surrendered a goal to Omar Djabi in the 68th minute. Djabi took a free kick at the top of the box and was able to send it through the Ospreys' defensive wall for the goal. The goal proved to be the match-winner as neither team was able to break the plane of the goal in the final 22 minutes.

North Florida returns to action on Saturday, Oct. 19 as the Ospreys play host to USC Upstate. The match is slated for 2:00 p.m.Â
