FT. MYERS, Fla. – The North Florida basketball team looks to continue its road success as the Ospreys conclude their Atlantic Sun Conference opening road trip Monday against Florida Gulf Coast at 7:30 p.m.
The Ospreys (7-9, 2-1) are coming off an impressive 90-74 victory at Stetson on Saturday highlighted by 33 points from Parker Smith and 23 for Travis Wallace. FGCU is coming off a win of its own having topped Jacksonville, 78-55, on Saturday.
UNF and FGCU will be meeting for the 14th time with the Ospreys holding a slim 7-6 edge in the all-time series. North Florida has won the last seven meetings including its last three visits to Alico Arena.
Smith, who leads North Florida in scoring at 16.1 points per game, blistered the nets from long range Saturday against the Hatters making 9 of 10 three-point attempts. Wallace, the team's second leading scorer (15.2 ppg) and top rebounder (5.1 rpg), extended his personal double digit scoring streak to 13 games.
Florida Gulf Coast is a perfect 8-0 at home this year and owns the ASun's best record thus far at 10-6. Bernard Thompson leads the Eagles offense at 14.6 points per game.
