SPARTANBURG, S.C. – After playing seven consecutive games within the state borders of Florida, the North Florida basketball team opens a two-game road swing at USC Upstate on Thursday at 7 p.m.
The Ospreys (8-12, 3-4 ASun) look to rebound following a disappointing loss to cross town rival Jacksonville last Friday. The Spartans (9-10, 3-3) also enter the contest after dropping a tough loss at Mercer on Saturday.
Thursday's tilt marks the 18th meeting between UNF and USC Upstate on the hardwood with the Spartans holding a 10-7 lead in the all-time series. Upstate earned a sweep of the regular season meetings last year after the Ospreys had claimed three straight in the series.
UNF is led by the Atlantic Sun's top scoring tandem of Parker Smith (16.8 ppg) and Travis Wallace (15.1 ppg). Smith currently ranks first in the NCAA for three-pointers made per game at 4.0 and is 10th in three-point percentage (46.5). Wallace is ranked 9th in the nation for overall field goal percentage (61.3). In addition, Will Wilson leads the Atlantic Sun in assists and assist-turnover ratio and is 11th in the country for assists.
USC Upstate also features a potent scoring duo as ASun Player of the Year Torrey Craig (17.4 ppg) and Ty Greene (12.6 ppg) rank third among conference tandems. Additionally, Ricardo Glenn is one of the league's top rebounders averaging 8.1 boards a game.
Fans can follow all the exciting action live on the radio on 1010 XL AM/92.5 FM, The Flagship Stations of the UNF Sports Network, as well as online via the radio network link at www.1010xl.com.
