JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – With two outs and two runners on base in the bottom of the second inning, the baseball game between the University of North Florida and the University of South Florida was halted because of inclement weather in the Jacksonville area. The Ospreys led 1-0 in the bottom of the second inning when the game was called. There will be no make-up game.
Although the statistics from the game will not count towards the overall season stats, the Ospreys scored a run on four hits.
Alex Bacon,
Paul Karmeris,
Tyler Marincov and
Ryan Roberson each had hits in the game. Bacon tripled to left center field and came around to score on an RBI ground out by
Drew Weeks.
When the game ended,
Spencer Herrmann was on second base and P. Karmeris was on first.
Starting pitcher
Tommy Organ allowed a walk and two base hits in 2.0 innings of work. The southpaw did not surrender a run while striking out a pair.
North Florida hosts crosstown rival Jacksonville in the final three-game Atlantic Sun Conference series of the season. The games will each count towards the River City Rumble standings, although with UNF's men's golf team winning the A-Sun Championship, the Ospreys secured the Old Wooden Barrel earlier this year.
Thursday and Friday's games are slated for 6:00 p.m., while Saturday's finale is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. Saturday's game will be Senior Day with festivities taking place prior to the game. Live stats, live audio, ASun.TV and in-game Tweets (@UNFOspreys) will be available for the games.
