JOHSON CITY, Tenn. – Trailing 2-1 heading into the sixth inning, the University of North Florida baseball team erupted for 12 runs in the sixth inning to take control of the final game of an Atlantic Sun Conference series with East Tennessee State. The Ospreys won the game 13-4 and claimed the series, 2-1.

Offensively, the Ospreys recorded 11 hits, including six extra base hits in the game. Eight different batters in the UNF lineup recorded hits on the day with three batters notching multiple hits. Alex Bacon, T.J. Gavlik and Tyler Marincov each had a pair of hits in the game with Bacon and Marincov each recording home runs. Gavlik finished the game with two doubles, while Corey Bass and Chris Carter each added two baggers. Andrew Karmeris added his first triple of the season. Bass and Marincov led all North Florida batters with 3 RBI apiece, while Gavlik, A. Karmeris, Marincov and Michael Wesner each scored two runs each.

On the mound, Tyler Moore earned the win. The starter worked 6.2 innings, allowing four runs – two earned runs – on six hits. Moore struck out nine batters in the game, while walking just two. Moore's nine strikeouts was a career-best for the sophomore, besting his previous high of eight against Southern Illinois earlier this season.

Chandler Jagodzinski entered the game in relief, tossing 1.1 innings. The senior allowed no runs on two hits, while striking out one. Spencer Herrmann came in to pitch the final inning. The rookie surrendered no runs on one hit with a strikeout. He induced a game-ending double play to secure the victory for North Florida.

Heading into the sixth inning trailing 2-1, the Ospreys broke the game open with a season-high 12 runs, sending 16 people to the plate and nearly batting around twice in the inning. The Ospreys used six hits, six walks by the Buccaneers and two ETSU errors to take control of the game in the sixth. All nine batters in the Osprey lineup reached base in the sixth inning with six different batters recording a hit. Marincov recorded a two-run homer, while A. Karmeris had an RBI triple and Gavlik added an RBI double to highlight the inning.

ETSU was the first team to score, plating a pair of runners in the bottom of the third inning. With two outs, the Buccaneers used a double off of the left field wall to put a runner in scoring position. The next batter was hit by a pitch to give the hosts a pair of base runners. The Bucs continued the inning and took the lead with a two-run triple to left center field just out of reach of a diving Carter.

North Florida responded with a run in the top of the fifth inning. Bacon cut the lead in half with one swing as the sophomore lifted a pitch over the left field wall to cut the deficit to 2-1. Carter followed with a double and advanced to third on a passed ball, but would be left stranded.

Following the 12-run inning by the Ospreys, the Bucs chipped into the lead with a pair of unearned runs. The hosts were unable to close the gap as the North Florida bullpen of Jagodzinski and Herrmann closed the door on ETSU.

North Florida returns to action on Tuesday, April 10 with a home game against Bethune-Cookman. First pitch between the Ospreys and Wildcats is slated for 6:00 p.m. Live stats, live video and in-game Tweets (@UNFOspreys) will be available for the game.
