Ospreys Fall to No. 44 USF

TAMPA, Fla. – The University of North Florida women's tennis team fell to No. 44 South Florida, 7-0 on Sunday afternoon at the USF Varsity Tennis Courts in Tampa, Fla.

UNF (13-7) dropped the doubles point to fall behind 1-0 in the match. In the No. 1 doubles, Melanie Aguirre and Danielle Day fell to No. 68 ranked duo of Janette Bejikova and Loreto Alonso Martinez, 8-6.

The Ospreys faced tough competition in singles play as well with USF having three players ranked in the ITA standings.

Day fell to No. 35 Irene Rehberger in the No. 1, 6-0, 6-3. In the No. 2, Victoria Krook dropped a decision to No. 114 Ecaterina Vasenina, 6-3, 7-6(7-4). Aguirre fell in the No. 3 to No. 67 Bejikova, 6-0, 6-2.

The Ospreys will be back in action at the 2011 Atlantic Sun Conference Women's Tennis Championships hosted by Stetson, April 14-16. UNF has the No. 3 seed and will face No. 6 seeded Jacksonville in the opening round on Thursday, April 14 at 11:30 a.m.
