DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Taking a brief break from Atlantic Sun Conference play, the University of North Florida volleyball team faces in-state foe Bethune-Cookman Tuesday night at Moore Gymnasium.
The Ospreys are 8-14 this season and look to halt a five-game losing skid after dropping a pair of tough ASun contests over the weekend.
Junior Paige Pridgeon paces the UNF offense averaging 3.29 kills per set while also ranking second in digs at 2.57 per set. Fellow junior Nicole Baran tops the team in digs at 4.51 per set followed by sophomore Anna Budinska at 2.57. Junior Carolyn Jenkins averages a team-best 0.90 blocks a set and freshman setter Casey Giovanazzi is handing out 8.77 assists per set.
Bethune-Cookman enters the midweek tilt at 9-12 on the year having lost two straight and five of their last eight. The Ospreys hold a 10-1 advantage in the all-time series with the Wildcats including wins in each of the previous two meetings. UNF and BCC will face each other again in Jacksonville next week on Oct. 25.
Following Tuesday's contest, UNF returns home for a pair of weekend matches highlighted by Friday's clash with crosstown rival Jacksonville. The Osprey and Dolphins kick off the annual SunTrust River City Rumble competition at 7 p.m. in UNF Arena.
