TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – No. 68 University of North Florida fell to No. 15 Florida State, 4-0 on Friday in the first round of the 2010 NCAA Women's Tennis Tournament at the Scott Speicher Tennis Center in Tallahassee, Fla.
“We played a very good FSU team today,” said head coach Rodrigo Puebla. “Our team played tough, but FSU had a little higher level. It gave us a better idea about what it takes to play at the highest level in the NCAAs. We can't forget what a great season that our team had. We accomplished so much and I am very proud of this group of girls. We are going to take this experience and look forward to next season.”
UNF (20-3, 9-1 A-Sun) fell behind early as Florida State (15-10, 6-4 ACC) won the doubles point, winning two of the three matches. The Ospreys picked up a win at the No. 2 doubles as sophomore transfer Danielle Day and freshman Melanie Aguirre defeated Federica Suess and Jessica Sucupira, 8-4.
In singles, Atlantic Sun Player of the Year, sophomore Aline Berkenbrock battled No. 22 ranked Lauren McCreless 6-4 in the first set. The second set was at 5-2 with McCreless holding the advantage, but the match ended unfinished as the Seminoles obtained the points needed to advance.

Junior Lauren Holton fell to Sucupira 6-4 in the first set at No. 6. The two were tied at 1-1 in the second set, but went unfinished once the Seminoles secured the match.

“I would like to thank the UNF administration,” Puebla said.”I also want to thank my assistant coaches Ronnie Sang and Julie Stoppelli. We would not have had the success that we had this season without the support of these people.”
