Box Score JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The University of North Florida men's tennis team swept Kennesaw State, 7-0, on Friday evening in Atlantic Sun action in Kennesaw, Ga.
The Ospreys (13-4, 4-1 A-Sun) secured the doubles point early as freshman Taylor Albrecht and senior Kurt Gattiker teamed up at No. 1 to defeat Elliot Kahler and Tyler Mills, 8-4. KSU fell to 5-10 and 0-5 in A-Sun action.
In No. 2 doubles, junior Hleb Maslau and freshman Daniel Sotomarino played a close match against Simon Janik and Michael Langel before defeating the KSU duo, 8-7 (5-3). Freshmen Leonard Nahar and Moritz Buerchner notched an 8-3 win over Justin Susserman and Gokalp Ozdemir at No. 3.
Maslau, appearing at the No. 1 spot for the first time this season, defeated Janik, 6-1, 6-4. In the No. 2 singles match Buerchner tallied a 6-4, 6-3, win over Mills, while Sotomarino had a 6-2, 6-2, win over Ozdemir at No. 3.
Albrecht tallied a point for the Ospreys at the No. 4 spot with a 7-6 (10-8), 6-3, victory over Gianni Kubin. At the No. 5 slot, Nahar defeated Langel, 6-2, 6-0, and Gattiker scored at No. 6 with a 6-4, 6-2, win over Kahler.
The Ospreys will be back in action on Saturday, March 20, when they travel to Mercer for an 11 a.m. match time.
