JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The University of North Florida swimming and diving team hosted its final meet of the season on Friday morning and came away with a 104-61 victory over North Carolina A&T. The meet served as Senior Day for the Ospreys who honored its two seniors, Krissy Harms and Emily Shaw before the meet.

“The energy was pretty positive at the meet, which is always good,” Harms said. “It is all bitter sweet. It has been an awesome four years, but at the same time I am really sad to leave. I posted two lifetime bests and one season best, so not bad. I think my performance today will carry me into conference. I am excited to see how I am going to do at conference.”

“It was a lot of fun today,” stated Shaw. “I am not used to being the center of attention, so it was a little embarrassing, but it was really nice to see that everyone was sad to see me go. I felt a lot of love from the team and that was the best part of it for sure. The meet went really well. I had some season-best times in my sprints. I am excited for conference. I have been lacking in speed all season and with the little bit of extra speed today, that's what you need going into conference. The endurance will be there, but it's the speed you need and I had it today which is good.”

The Ospreys had little trouble in the meet, as UNF posted the top three times in 11 of the 12 events on the day. With the meet well in hand, North Florida exhibitioned the final three events of the afternoon.

North Florida received stellar efforts by a multitude of swimmers who posted season-best marks in the meet. In the third race of the afternoon, Shaw and Harms finished second and third, respectively, in the 50-yard freestyle, both posting season-best times. Freshman Margaret Hoynes took second place in the 200 individual medley with a season-best time, while freshman Ashten Crosby posted a season-best time in the 200 breaststroke that would have been good enough for third.

Juniors Patricia Lanoue and Charlene Nebera each posted 2010 bests in the 200 butterfly finishing first and third, respectively. Sophomore Amanda Anderson finished second in the 200 fly to round out the top three.

Junior Megan Boudreau recorded a season-best time in the 100 freestyle, taking second in the event. Junior Lyn Ann Nelson won the event with freshman Sara Evans finishing third. Harms finished just outside of the top three with a season-best mark in the event.

Freshman Kirsten Orndorff and junior Sara Taylor finished good enough for second and third in the 500 freestyle with a pair of season bests, but with the meet already won, the Ospreys exhibitioned the race.

North Florida returns to action on Thursday, Feb. 18 as they begin the 2010 Coastal Collegiate Swimming Association Conference Meet. The meet will run through Saturday, Feb. 20, in Knoxville, Tenn.
