Box Score JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – After winning the doubles point, the University of North Florida men's tennis fell behind in the first set of five singles matches before rallying to defeat the College of Charleston, 6-1, on Sunday afternoon at the UNF Tennis Complex.
UNF, who improved to 6-2 on the year, battled in the singles matches with five of the six going to three sets. In the No. 1 singles match, freshman Moritz Buerchner defeated CofC's (2-2) Lukas Koncilia, 6-7, 6-2, 6-0.
In the No. 2 spot, freshman Taylor Albrecht dropped 2009 Southern Conference All-Freshman honoree, Mickael Trintignac, 3-6, 6-4, 6-3. Junior Hleb Maslau rallied to defeat Mickael Boyer, 1-6, 6-4, 6-2, in the No. 3 match.
Freshman Leonardo Nahar picked up a 1-6, 6-3, 6-4, win over Joe Nicolazzi in the No. 5 match, while junior Graham Edgar defeated John Harden, 1-6, 6-4, 6-2 in the No. 6 singles match
The Ospreys earned the doubles point early with wins in the No. 2 and No. 3 matches. Buerchner and Edgar teamed up to defeat Harden and Trintignac, 8-5. In the No. 3 match, Sotomarino and Maslau downed Steven Myers and Billy Kenny, 8-4.
UNF will be back on the court on Friday, Feb. 26, when the Ospreys host Central Florida at 2 p.m. at the UNF Tennis Complex.
