JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The University of North Florida women's tennis team won all of its matches on Friday afternoon to sweep Florida A&M, 7-0 at the UNF Tennis Complex. UNF improves to 5-0 on the season.
Sophomore Aline Berkenbrock and senior Raquel Castro picked up tough three set wins in their respective singles matches. Berkenbrock battled Rachel Pye in the No. 1 to a 4-6, 6-2, 6-4 decision while Castro picked up the 3-6, 6-3, 10-4 win over Britney Dean in the No. 2.
In the No. 3 singles sophomore transfer Danielle Day defeated Latreece Olagbegi, 6-1, 6-1 and junior Victoria Krook defeated Kathline Durden 6-4, 6-1 in the No. 4.
Freshman Melanie Aguirre dropped Alexis Brown, 6-2, 6-4 in the No. 5 and sophomore transfer Heather St. John picked up the 6-4, 6-3 decision over Bethany Holt in the No. 6.
The Ospreys also swept the doubles matches. Castro and Berkenbrock teamed up in the No. 1 to defeat the FAMU tandem of Pye and Olagbegi, 8-0.
In the No. 2 doubles Day and St. John paired up for the 8-0 win over Holt and Dean. Aguirre and Krook rounded out the doubles decisions with an 8-3 victory over Brown and Durden in the No. 3.
The Ospreys will be back on the court on Sunday, Feb. 21 when they host College of Charleston at 11 a.m.
