Friday's FGCU game is the CSS A-Sun TV Game of the Week
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – After a three-game home-stand, the University of North Florida men's basketball team is back in a familiar setting, on the road.
The Ospreys have played 10 of their first 14 games on the road and will play a pair of Atlantic Sun Conference games on the road this weekend. North Florida is at Florida Gulf Coast on Friday, Jan. 8, at 7:05 p.m. in the CSS A-Sun TV Game of the Week, and then travels to Stetson on Sunday, Jan. 10, for a 2 p.m. matchup.
Both games can be heard on AM 1320 WBOB and 103.7 FM in Jacksonville or on-line at 1320WBOB.com. They can also be seen on www.ASun.TV.
The Ospreys are coming off a narrow 84-79 loss to Mercer on Monday, Jan. 4. In snapping UNF's five-game winning streak, Mercer needed 32 made free throws (on 37 attempts), including a stretch of 22 in a row at one point midway through the game.
The five-game winning streak for the Ospreys was their third longest streak in school history, behind a six-game run during the early part of the 2003-04 season and a seven-game streak at the start of the 1994-95 season. UNF is 6-8 on the year and 1-3 in A-Sun play. Florida Gulf Coast is 5-8 overall and 2-2 in Atlantic Sun play, while Stetson is 3-9 and 1-3 in league action.
UNF has played a very challenging schedule that includes games at Notre Dame (Big East), Illinois State (Missouri Valley), Alabama (SEC), Northwestern (Big Ten), Marquette (Big East) and two A-Sun games at Campbell and East Tennessee State.
“We are excited to get back on the floor and start another streak,” said North Florida head coach Matthew Driscoll. “Obviously playing on the road is always a difficult task but we have so much road experience this should be second nature by now. More interesting is that we have six games in 14 days and that will put us half way through the league already. Time flies when you're competing to win.”
A season ticket for basketball is $120 and includes all men's and women's home games, a total of 28 games on 19 event dates, including nine Atlantic Sun Conference double headers. A special rate is available for UNF Alumni ($110) and UNF Faculty and Staff ($105). A Family 4-pack is also available for the season at $360. Select seating areas require an Osprey Club membership (per seat donation).
Single-game pricing is $10 for adults and $8 for youth 17-and-under and senior citizens 55-and-older. Children 2-and-under and any current UNF student with a valid Osprey1 Card are admitted free. Student guest passes are $5 and limited to one per student.
