GREENVILLE, S.C. – The University of North Florida dropped a match to College of Charleston by a score of 3-0 on Friday afternoon at the Diadora/Spinx Furman Invitational.
The Cougars scored a goal at the four-minute mark in the first half and never looked back as Charleston netted two more goals for the three-goal victory.
UNF took more shots than the College of Charleston, 12-to-9, including more shots on goal, 5-to-3. However, the Cougars were able to keep all five shots on goal by the Ospreys out of the net to secure the shutout.
The Ospreys were led by Adam O'Neill who tallied four shots including a pair of shots on goal.
Theo Fulger and Shareef Rajkumar each had two shots apiece with Fulger taking a shot on goal.
Four other Ospreys took shots in the match. Jonathan Lusambo and David Pollard each took a shot on goal, while Matthew Hollyoak and Dario Grgic each added a shot each.
The College of Charleston struck first in the fourth minute of the match as Matt Morris scored what would prove to be the match-winning goal on a penalty kick.
In the 27th minute of the match, Sean Flatley took a volley from Morris from the left about 19 yards out for the second goal of the match. The Cougars added the final goal of the match in the 83rd minute of the match as Ralph Lundy, III connected on a give and go from Kareem Yearwood on the right side.
North Florida will continue play at the Diadora/Spinx Furman Invitational on Sunday, Sept. 13, as they take on tournament-host Furman in a match at 2:30 p.m.
